On September 30th my doctor gave me the green light to go back to work. I was really excited as I'm looking forward to going back - I'm so bored at home and I really feel ready to get back in the workforce. I contacted my LTD insurance carrier and we worked out a gradual return to work schedule starting 2 days a week as of October 10th, working up to full time by the 7th week.
October 3rd I contacted my boss telling her I was coming back and asking what I had to do to prepare for my return. She indicated that she would need to talk to HR and would get back to me. It's October 13th and I'm still waiting for a response. I've followed up with her 3 times now and the response is always the same: "I haven't met with HR yet and will get back to you when I do".
I'm worried and I'm frustrated. I don't understand what is taking so long. It doesn't seem so complicated to me; just pick a date and I'll show up and start working. Perhaps there is some special process for employees returning from long term disability, but why haven't they had this meeting yet? I haven't even returned yet and I'm feeling undervalued and neglected. (Having said that, the new stable me is handling those feelings really well.) I'm scared they don't want me back and are just trying to figure out what they can do with me. In any case I just wish I knew what was going on. Good or bad, it is what it is and I can't change that, I just really need to know what it is.
The waiting is the hardest part...
